SUMMARY:West Fork Salt River Willow Planting
DESCRIPTION:Join the Salt River Watershed Group and Star Valley Trout Unlimited to plant willows on the West fork of the Salt River!  Please RSVP to tanner.belknap@tu.org if you plan to attend.  Lunch will be provided.  Please bring gloves\, mallets\, and loppers if you have them.  The “West Fork” is a historic side channel of the Salt River.  The stretch where we are planting willows provides spawning and rearing habitat for cutthroat and brown trout.  Numerous brown trout redds were observed in an October site visit with WGFD\, and discussions with the landowner and anglers indicate that it is also well-used by cutthroat in the spring.  The West Fork is largely devoid of willows.  This planting day will work to re-establish willows in the stream to enhance habitat\, stabilize banks\, and reduce water temperatures. \nMeet at the gate just north of:\n2745 Co Rd 125\nThayne\, WY 83127\nGoogle Maps Link
